For Classic Tinkergarten outdoor classes, explorers learn about a featured creature, sing songs, move, and are then invited to wonder, play, create, and explore! Classes are designed for kids 18 months to 8 years old, and the resulting mixed age play encourages both the younger and older explorers to think outside the box. Older children have been shown to become more creative and playful when playing with younger kids as they have a chance to act as leaders and build confidence in skills they have already practiced. Younger children get the benefit of observing and learning from other humans just beyond their own ability, which is the best natural scaffold for learning.

Class Schedule

Seasons are 9 weeks long and are offered all 4 seasons. We meet every Friday for a 1 hour long class in the park where we learn, play, and explore. The last class of every season, we celebrate a whole season of play and learning with a small badge ceremony and a chance for family pictures under the color curtain. After each season, there is a 2-3 week break, other than between Fall and Winter, which has a 1.5 month break. There are also a few special seasonal events offered throughout the year, like the Lantern Walk, to celebrate these changes together.
